“.I used to think I was the strangest person in the world but then I thought there are so many people in the world, there must be someone just like me who feels bizarre and flawed in the same ways I do. I would imagine her, and imagine that she must be out there thinking of me, too. Well, I hope that if you are out there and read this and know that, yes, it’s true I’m here, and I’m just as strange as you.” - Frida Kahlo

would really appreciate it if anyone who likes my art could follow this blog!

georgiagraceartthird:

this is gonna be my main art portfolio where I reblog and post all my best work. All my other blogs are very messy showing all my research and builds up and annoying texts posts and half finished stuff, so if you’re just interested in pure art then this is a better place to follow. I will also be finishing my working blogs after college and only posting on this blog so it will be soon the only place to see my art :-)

Happy to announce I’m working within a new project named ‘Clandestine Collective’! The collective is aiming to create safe space for young female identified artists of all forms and subjects to explore similar artists ideas and exhibit their work within the north of england (a place with a very small young art scene, with nothing like this previously existing). We’ve already managed one exhibition and are currently looking into more. I’m really excited to be working on this, and the chances are if you like my work you’ll most likely like the work of the artists involved alongside me! The tumblr is clandestinecollective.tumblr.com and I’d really appreciate it if any of you gals followed it and checked out the work we have on there so far; we’re also looking into expanding the group at the moment, and so to apply to be part of the collective you can email your work and a small description of yourself and work to clandestinecollectiveuk@gmail.com! If you know any great young northern artists let them know/or simply reblog this post so we can discover some new talent to exhibition with. Exciting stuff!

blossomflowers95 asks: I like your work and your talented. Btw what kind of art course are you doing because you have a mix of textiles, print and photography.

fine art! Thank you so much.

Review in DGFC newsletter by someone who attended my exhibition! Very proud to have had such encouraging words spoken about the night.

'That's what you get when you eat the apple and destroy mankind'
In response to Georgia Gibson’s 'I don't only have glitter in my veins' and 'Fruit of the womb' pieces. Within my response to her work and linking back to my theme of puberty I particularly wanted to reflect the negative attitudes towards women during their growing years, in particular the attitudes towards menstruation. In my work I researched various opinions of puberty, in particular the menstruation cycle, the one response that stood out to me the most was “That’s what you get when you eat the apple and destroy mankind” so with that in mind I decided to use an apple and red acrylic paint to create an image of a bleeding apple. With this piece I intended to recreate the idea of the menstruation cycle being that of a woman’s fault (linking to the biblical tale of Adam and Eve) and also linking the sexual connotations of fruit with the female genitalia.

I really love this! Such a wonderful response to my work, I’m so pleased to have inspired such great work. Fantastic!

alanaisanidiot asks: Hi Georgia, I absolutely love your work and I was wondering if you didn't mind me using some of it in my sketchbook as inspiration for my current topic, I am currently looking at the theme of puberty particularly in women for my A2 exam and need to create a few pages of artist research and i'd love to look at your work for one of them? (: x

of course you can! can you take some photos of the pages and sent me them when you’re done? would love to see them! good luck with your project x
